The Chinese company Xiaomi is no longer blacklisted by the US government after a lawsuit in US courts. According to Bloomberg, parties agreed on “a way forward that would resolve this lawsuit without the need for a disputed briefing,” meaning the U.S. Department of Defense withdrew from removing the list of manufacturers from global benchmark indices.

The conflict did not begin until November 2020, when former US President Donald Trump designated Xiaomi as a “Communist Chinese military company”, which prevented US citizens and businesses from investing or engaging with the manufacturer.

Xiaomi responded with a lawsuit in January 2021 and received a preliminary injunction (basically an exclusion from the ban) from the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia two months later.

Neither Xiaomi nor the US courts were able to comment, while the Chinese Foreign Ministry was not aware of any agreement that both sides may have reached.
