The Mobile World Congress will return last year after skipping 2020. The exhibition will take place between June 28 and July 1 in Barcelona, Spain with as many as 50,000 people participating.

However, many technology companies have decided that it is still not safe to send their employees out for personal presentations. The latest to pull out is Samsung Electronics – if the company has anything to reveal at MWC, it will do so virtually.

“Health and safety for our employees, partners and customers is our highest priority, so we have made the decision to withdraw from the exhibition in person at this year’s MWC. We look forward to participating virtually and continuing to work with GSMA and industry partners to promote new mobile experiences, ”Samsung said in a statement.

The organizer of the MWC, GSMA, will require participants to show a negative test before arriving and they must also be tested again every three days. Still, Samsung and many others think it’s better to play it safe.

Sony, Nokia, Google and Ericsson are among the biggest names pulled out of the show. British Telecom, Facebook, Oracle and others will also skip the event.
