In April, Apple announced that its update to its Podcasts app would refresh things for both listeners and creators. The new “Podcast Subscription” service allows listeners to sign up for freemium or paid podcast shows as they are written by the creators.

In an email sent to creators and a statement to The edge, Apple acknowledges that some of the changes it has made were not well received and takes feedback from iOS 14.6 into account for a future update. It also plans to update the ‘Library’ interface to the Podcasts app “in the coming weeks”. Additionally, some creators experienced issues with content uploaded by creators through its Apple Podcasts Connect portal.

As a result of these changes, Apple decides to postpone the launch of its Podcast subscription platform until June “to ensure [Apple] delivers the best experience to creators and listeners ”.
