New Samsung TV ad leaks Under Panel Camera (UPC) for the Galaxy Z Fold 3

Last weekend we showed you Samsung’s latest TV commercials designed to take a shot at Apple and the iPhone. An ad showed how much better Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G photographs the moon than Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max does. Samsung’s top-of-the-line handset is equipped with its 100x Space Zoom feature.

The second ad compares photos of a grilled cheese sandwich taken from the same two handsets. Samsung says that Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G provided more details about the bread in its image. As we noted last Sunday, Samsung has apparently moved away from the heavy-in-the-cheek spots that characterized its early Galaxy vs. iPhone commercials.

On Friday, Samsung dropped a new TV commercial titled “Life opens up with Galaxy,” which appears to be taking a shot at the walled garden that is iOS. The YouTube video runs 53 seconds, meaning we could see the clip turned into one or more 30-second videos possibly debuting during the NBA and NHL playoffs.

Superimposed on the video as a subliminal message are comments about openness that are supposed to drum into your head the idea that Android-powered Galaxy devices are open. Compare that to the words that have been thrown around recently (mostly in court) to describe iOS: anti-competitive, monopoly.

We also note that the “Life opens up with Galaxy” tag line could also describe Sammy’s foldable devices such as Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Galaxy Z Flip 5G. New versions of both models are expected to be released possibly in the third quarter. Note that at the end of the ad you can see what appears to be the Galaxy Z Fold 2, except that the front-facing hole camera seems to be missing.
Is it possible that Samsung has given us a quick look at the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 3 to be unveiled in July? After all, the reliable tipster Ice Universe back in February said so Galaxy Z Fold 3 most likely includes a UPC camera (under panel). The phone could be powered by the 5nm Snapdragon 888 chipset and equipped with a 6.21-inch external screen that opens to become a 7.55-inch tablet in tablet size.

Galaxy Z Fold 3 reportedly has 256 GB of storage space and has Android 11 pre-installed along with One UI 3.5. This is the interface that moves most of the tapable elements closer to the bottom of the screen so that users do not have to perform calisthenics with their finger to reach an icon or link. The handset will support the S Pen and will even have a slot for the digital writing instrument.

In addition, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will reportedly be made using military grade material, carbon or titanium. These materials are lighter than aluminum, but are stronger (and more expensive).
As Samsung says on the video’s YouTube list:
“Openness is what we believe in. And that’s at the heart of everything we do. By creating technology with fewer boundaries and limitations, we enable more creativity, innovation and freedom.

We are all born with a beautiful bias towards openness

Open to all
Open to everything
Open with anything

Galaxy was created to be as open as we are

To enable impossible innovations
To connect devices, brands and people without restrictions
Open to everyone, exclusive to no one
So everyone can push forward equally

Because the fewer borders the world has
the farther we can all go

Life opens up with the Galaxy. “
