The Pocophone brand is often associated with performance on the cheap, and that’s probably the appropriate description of the latest phone we have for review – the Poco F3. However, it’s more than that – it’s like a flagship on the cheap, or as this other company would have called it – a flagship killer.

Poco F3 is packed with premium features that start with its beautiful glass body with a sturdy plastic frame. The F3 features a 6.67 “AMOLED display with 120Hz update, one of the fastest platforms available today – Snapdragon 870 5G chip, tall stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, a versatile triple camera setup and a large battery with fast charging.

The rear camera is your typical budget arrangement, and it’s probably the biggest cost-saving decision to make on F3. There is a 48MP primary, an 8MP ultra-wide shooter and a 5MP macro enhanced with autofocus. The front punch contains a 20MP selfie shooter. Sure, it’s not a real flagship, but hey, it’s not too shabby either.

The Poco F3 is among the first phones to use the improved version of last year’s Snapdragon 865. It’s the new Snapdragon 870, which should be about 10% faster. Paired with the 1080p display, the hardware must also perform a fantastic job in graphics-intensive tasks.

However, the Poco F3 is not a massive upgrade over the F2 Pro. It certainly packs a better 120Hz AMOLED and stereo speakers than its predecessor, but we expect the processor performance to be similar. The F2 Pro even had high-resolution headphones and ultra-wide cameras. But there’s a big deal to do here – the Poco F3 price at launch is almost half of the Poco F2, and that’s a big deal.

In fact, the Poco F3 seems to pack a lot of unexpectedly good specs. Let’s scroll through them now.

An overview of Xiaomi Poco F3 specifications:

We appreciate the stereo speakers and fast charging, but we can only avoid missing the microSD connector and the 3.5mm connector. The writing has been on the wall for a few years now, for sure, but still. Poco users usually expect these features to be present and they are not available on F3. There is no FM radio on the Poco F3 in case you were wondering.

Enough with the introductions, it’s time we unpack it.

Unboxing of Poco F3

Poco F3 is sent in a large black box with the usual yellow Poco insignia. The retail package is your typical Xiaomi treatment – there is a fast 33W power supply, a 3A-rated USB-A-to-C cable and a transparent silicone case. The case has a small protective cover for the USB port, which increases the intrusion protection, but quickly becomes annoying when you need to charge the phone or connect a wired headset.

And when it comes to headsets, the Poco F3 does not offer a 3.5mm jack, which is why the manufacturer also offers a 3.5mm-to-USB-C adapter as part of the package. On a!

Finally, if you are an avid Poco fan, would you also be happy to find a bunch of Poco stickers that you can put on your favorite gadgets, PCs or maybe your car bumper?

The Poco F3 comes with this very thin screen protector that was used at the factory, but it was so cheap and hard to keep clean from stains that we quickly got rid of it.
