The Android phone market is as big as the seven seas when it comes to selection. Amidst these seas is Xiaomi, which has made its mark all over the world with its wide range of devices.

Xiaomi has added its unique flavor to the Android market with its customized MIUI interface. And while MIUI is already known for its wide range of available features, it has features that are hidden somewhere deep in menus or locked within developer options.

For example, you can play YouTube videos in the background without being a YT Premium user. These hidden features are easy to find, and all you have to do is search for them and change them if they are not to your liking.

And before we start, these hidden MIUI settings are on Xiaomi, Redmi, Mi and POCO devices running on MIUI 12, MIUI 12 and above. However, some features may not be present in some Xiaomi phones due to hardware limitations.

And we’ve done our best to sort out the hidden settings that are compatible with the maximum number of devices.

Top 5 hidden features of MIUI 12 and MIUI 13

Display frame rate on screen

MIUI has a fully functional FPS meter, but it’s tucked away inside the settings. So here is a simple way to access hidden FPS counter in MIUI. For this, you will need to enable developer options on your device.

To access the developer options in MIUI, open Settings > About phone > and tap MIUI Version 7 times.

Now to access the FPS counter, open Settings > Additional settings > Developer options > scroll down until you find Power Monitor. Now, click on Start on the Frame Rate Monitor Toolbox.

This will enable the FPS meter on your screen, along with an FPS graph. To get a better screen view, you can hide the graph by clicking once on the green text, then clicking on the small white arrow below the graph.

The hidden FPS meter is now visible, and remains on the screen until you decide to close it manually by clicking on the cross icon. The FPS meter also displays the device’s internal temperature, along with the refresh rate and screen resolution.

With this FPS meter, you can monitor your device’s performance while playing games, or monitor the device’s temperature, so you know when it’s time to stop and take a break.

Change the UI of the camera app

The MIUI Camera app offers a lot of camera modes, such as Vlog, Dual Video, and more, but switching between these modes can be confusing. Normally, the app requires you to scroll through the entire list to the right until you hit the tab. But, what if we told you there was a better way to do it?

Open the Camera app > tap the three horizontal lines button > Settings > Personalization > Camera modes > Select the More panel option.

Now all the different camera modes supported on your Xiaomi device can be viewed simply by swiping up in the camera app. This also keeps 50% of the viewfinder visible so that you can keep an eye on the subject in focus while switching between modes.
