Apple usually releases its new iPadOS along with the corresponding iOS version, but that was not the case this year. While iOS 16 has been out for over a month, iPadOS 16 still hasn’t been finalized for a consumer release, but Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says we can expect the stable release of iPadOS 16.1 on October 24. Apple has previously confirmed that it will skip iPadOS 16 and release iPadOS 16.1 directly to users.

Apple has yet to confirm the release date, but Gurman expects it to happen soon, and he believes Cupertino will follow its strategy of releasing new products and firmware updates the week of the earnings report. Apple’s earnings report for Q4 2022 is expected on October 27 at 2:00 PM PT time. While iPadOS 16.1 will finally make its long-awaited debut, we can also see new hardware announcements with a new entry-level iPad alongside the M2 iPad Pro models and new M2 Pro and M2 Max MacBook Pros.
