Move over the Galaxy A32 5G, Samsung has a new cheapest 5G phone – the Galaxy A22 5G will be available in July from € 230. By comparison, the A32 5G started at € 280 and the weird thing is that the A22 5G is the better phone. Not that we’re complaining. There is also a 4G model of the A22 that differs in several important aspects in addition to the connectivity options.

Samsung Galaxy A22 5G
Samsung does not like to talk about chipsets, but it is quite clear that this model is powered by the Dimensity 700. It starts with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage, which makes it possible to reach that price target of € 230. a model with 128 GB of storage, which you can have 4, 6 or 8 GB of RAM. The 4/128 GB setting starts at € 250. Note that different countries get different models, e.g. The Netherlands gets cheaper 4/64 GB, while neighboring Belgium gets the more expensive 4/128 GB version.

€ 20 for extra 64GB sounds reasonable, but the A22 5G has a microSD slot (as opposed to the A22 4G), so it’s okay to get the smaller option. The 5G model also gets the better screen (unlike the A32 pair).
Well, better if you do not insist on an AMOLED panel. What you get is a 6.6 ”LCD with 1080p + resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. However, the 5G model is not doing so well in the camera department.
The triple cam on the back is home to a 48 MP main module (no OIS) and a 5 MP ultra wide angle module (plus a depth sensor). The 8 MP selfie camera is in a V-shaped notch on the front.

Both phones have 5,000 mAh batteries and both support 15W fast charging. Both also have side-mounted fingerprint readers.
Again, the Samsung Galaxy A22 5G will be available in select regions from July for € 230 (or a little more if the 64GB version is not available). You can choose from four colorways: Gray, White, Mint and Violet.

The Samsung Galaxy A22 is quite different from its siblings, in fact the name suggests a greater familiar connection than exists in reality. To begin with, this is powered by the older Helio G80 chipset. The basic memory configuration is 4/64 GB with a 128 GB option available, but this time the RAM selection is limited to 4 and 6 GB. And remember that there is no microSD slot on this one.

The screen is also different, very different. It is a 6.4 ”Super AMOLED panel with 720p + resolution. The one spec shared between the two is the refresh rate of 90 Hz. Even notches have a different shape. And it also houses another camera, a 13 MP device.
The rear cam has a 48 MP sensor in the main module, this time with OIS. And the ultra-wide-angle camera is upgraded to an 8 MP sensor. There is also a 2 MP macro camera that holds the depth sensor firm.
With different screens also come different dimensions. The A22 4G measures 159.3 x 73.6 x 8.4 mm and weighs 186 g, the A22 5G is larger, thicker and heavier at 167.2 x 76.4 x 9.0 mm and 203 g.
