Apple has released the much awaited iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 updates for iPhone and iPad devices that are eligible for the new update, and according to the company, the new updates fix a lot of bugs and issues. Despite this, it seems that these new versions are not bug-free and they also bring several serious security vulnerabilities that could put your data at risk.


Reports said, the latest iOS and iPadOS versions come with several breaches for iPhone and iPad. These vulnerabilities will allow hackers to remotely access private user data. They can also run arbitrary code and spoof the interface address. Hackers can also run denial of service programs on the victim’s machine remotely.

According to Cert-IN, many iPhones and iPads running iOS 16.1 and versions prior to iOS 16.0.3 are vulnerable to cyberattacks. Devices running iPadOS with versions prior to the latest version 16.1 are also experiencing the same problem.

The reports also confirmed, that with regard to iOS, the security breach exists in versions prior to 16.0.3. Apple iPhone 8 and later, iPad Pro Call models, iPad Air 3rd generation and later, iPad 5th generation and later, and iPad mini 5th generation and later are among the list of affected devices.

Also, according to reports, the penetration rate is high. Whereas, the hack exists due to some security controls in the Apple Mobile File Integrity component. An attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities and convince the victim to open a special file or app on iPhone or iPad. These files may look fine. But the core code includes a firmware that activates the code. And if the hacker gains access to the victim’s device, it is possible to “exploit these vulnerabilities that allow the hacker to access private and sensitive data.”

It is worth noting, that there are security holes in versions of Safari prior to version 16.1. It is the original browser for iPhone, iPad and other devices. These vulnerabilities allow hackers to spoof URLs and access your information and data with ease.
