Xiaomi Mi 9 SE global starts receiving Android 11/MIUI 12.5 stable update
Xiaomi’s Mi 9 SE was originally launched with Android 9 a little over two years ago, so it’s nice to see that OEM is also keeping an eye on its older devices. The new update does not support the MIUI version of the software, but it does provide the newer version of Android 11.
The MIUI 12.5 update based on Android 11 has already been distributed to Chinese users back in March, so the global variant is due as well. Also keep in mind that this is a staged rollout, so some markets may have to wait a few days before they get the chance to update to V18.104.22.168.RFBMIXM., which is the global firmware version.
Do not expect any drastic changes in the user interface, as most of the changes are under the hood. Apart from maybe one-time permissions and chat bubbles, which are Android 11 inherent features.
