iPhone 15 Pro – iPhone 15 Pro will enable unprecedented speed data transfer with this unique feature
The iPhone 15 Pro models that are planned to be officially unveiled next year 2023 will support higher wired transfer speeds thanks to the transition to USB-C, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
In contrast, all iPhone 15 models will feature USB-C ports instead of Lightning ports, and faster transfer speeds will be limited to iPhone 15 Pro models. Regular iPhone 15 models will continue to offer USB 2.0 speeds, like Lightning.
Kuo says that transfer speeds are likely to “improve significantly” over the iPhone 15 Pro models, with support for “at least” USB 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3.
With the upgrade, iPhone 15 Pro models will be able to transfer videos and other file types at faster speeds, with Kuo expecting to significantly improve the user experience.
USB 2.0 transfer speeds are limited to 480MB/s, while USB 3.2 supports speeds of up to 20GB/s. Thunderbolt 3 supports data transfer speeds of up to 40Gb/s, so if Kuo is correct, there will be quite a difference in wired data transfer speeds between the iPhone 15 Pro and non-Pro models.
Apple is moving to USB-C across its product portfolio, and the first USB-C iPhones are slated to be released next year. Apple is making the change in order to comply with European regulations that require electronic devices to have public, non-proprietary charging methods.
