Galaxy S22 – Galaxy S22 series receives the first important update after Android 13 and One UI 5
Samsung is expanding the availability of the January 2023 security patch for the Galaxy S22 series in more regions. Unlocked Galaxy S22 models in the USA were the first to get this firmware update at the beginning of January. Since then, the update has reached more countries in a steady manner.
The first security update for the Galaxy S22 series of 2023
Recently, the January 2023 security patch began rolling out versions of the SM-S90xE in dozens more markets, including Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Panama, Trinidad and Tobago, Nigeria, Afghanistan, South Africa, Tunisia, Australia, Turkey, Iraq, Kenya, Israel, Egypt, UAE, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Argentina Bolivia and Peru.
The update is determined by the S90xEXXS2BWA2 firmware version. And as you can probably tell by the second “S” in this series, this is just a security patch that doesn’t add any new features to the One UI.
What’s new in the Galaxy S22 updates?
If you have a Galaxy S22 in one of the markets listed above and you’re getting the January 2023 update, you’ll notice that the change won’t go into detail about what Samsung and Google patched. But Samsung detailed the fixes in its bulletin earlier this month. Where Android is getting more than 50 “security vulnerabilities” fixes, and One UI is getting a few patches of its own regarding Secure Folder, NFC, Samsung Knox, and other features.
You can download the January 2023 security patch on your S22 when you receive the update notification, or you can try to trigger the process by opening the Settings app on your phone, going to Software Update, and tapping Download and Install. And you can also, Download files programs firmware from the Internet and manually install the latest updates using a computer.
