Old Apple devices receive a new update
Apple also released a new update for older iPhone models. The iPhone 5s, which was launched in 2013, has received a new iOS update. Apple has also released a new software update for other devices, such as the 2013 MacBook Pro, Mac Pro, and MacBook Air. Some older iPad models have also received the new update.
The Apple iPhone 5s and later, iPad Air 2, and many older Mac models are all getting a new update.
Apple starts rolling out new updates for its old devices
iPhone 5s, which was launched in 2013, has received a new iOS 12.5.7 update despite being declared outdated. The iPhone 6, iPhone 6s, iPhone 7 and iPhone SE 2016 series also received a new update. While the iPhone 6 series also received the iOS 12.5.7 update, the iPhone 6s, iPhone 7, and iPhone SE Gen 1 series also received the iOS 15.7.3 update. It is worth noting that Apple announced that the iPhone is out of date months ago, so the company is not responsible for issuing software support.
An Apple Insider report revealed that the update addresses up to 14 system flaws and security issues. If so, it’s best to update your iPhone to the latest software update. The following systems are addressed by this update: AppleMobileFileIntegrity, curl, dcerpc, DiskArbitration, DriverKit, Intel Graphics Driver, PackageKit, Kernel, Mail Exchange, Maps, Screen Time, Weather, WebKit, and Windows Installer.
iPad Air, iPad Air 2, iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 4, and iPod Touch Gen 7 have also received a new security update that addresses the issues described above. Similarly, older Mac models from 2013 also received the new macOS Big Sur 11.7.3 and macOS Monterey 12.6.3 updates.
Finally, we highly recommend that you update your device with the latest update as it addresses several security vulnerabilities, helping you stay away from any risks. To check if your device has received the new security update, go to Settings > General and tap on Software Update. As for macOS, you can click on the Apple logo in the upper left corner, click on System Preferences and then Software Update.
