iPhone sales sweep Galaxy sales and break a record within one month in only one country!
Apple set a new record in India with iPhone sales that beat expectations, something no other brand has done before, as the tech giant became the country’s first to release $1 billion worth of smartphones in a single month.
According to the data from Economic Times Apple achieved the record export stage in December at the end of last year 2022, which is an unprecedented number in the country.
Apple sweeps Samsung in iPhone sales against the Galaxy
Apple and Samsung are two major exporters of phones in India, according to government officials. Apple has overtaken its rival Samsung to become the country’s number one exporter, replacing the South Korean giant. The US tech giant owns three contract manufacturers in India: Foxconn, Pegatron and Wistron.

The company locally manufactures iPhone 12, iPhone 13, iPhone 14, and iPhone 14 Plus in the country. According to the report, some small manufacturers are also exporting iPhones to and from India.
Apple participates in the Indian government’s Product Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme since its launch in April 2020 All three manufacturers are required to provide data on production, exports, investments and jobs to the government as part of their participation in the PLI scheme.
Apart from Apple’s export figures, the data also revealed that December was a record month for the mobile industry with exports reaching over Rs 10,000 crore. Officials added that this could have been higher if the Samsung facility had been operating at full capacity rather than being closed for 10-15 days for maintenance.

The government estimates that India will export mobile phones worth about $9 billion in the 2022-2023 fiscal year, and the $1 billion export benchmark set by iPhones in one month is a leading example of the government’s ambitious PLI plans.
