The Galaxy S23 series brings upgraded video recording capabilities, including support for 8K at 30fps (previous models topped out at 24fps). There’s more – according to Leakster The ice universethe Galaxy S23 Ultra will have improved portrait video mode.

The resolution cap reportedly goes up to 4K at 30fps, while the current S22 Ultra only records 1080p/30fps videos in portrait mode. In addition, the separation between subject and background becomes better.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra will be the first (and so far only) phone equipped with ISOCELL HP2

It is not clear if these improvements will be available on the other two Galaxy S23 models. They all have the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chipset, but the Ultra is the only one with the new ISOCELL HP2 200MP sensor. The S22 and S22+ will use 50MP sensors instead.

Anyway, The Cat also writes that the thermals of the Galaxy S23 Ultra are “relatively good”, which should mean that the new flagship won’t heat up much while recording in these more demanding video modes. The S23 lineup will be officially revealed in a few weeks on February 1st.
