Honor Watch GS 3 and Honor Earbuds 3 Pro in for review

Honor began the global rollout of the Magic4 Pro smartphone last month, and the flagship will be joined on the tour by the Watch GS 3 and Earbuds 3 Pro. We have already reviewed the phone and now it’s time to see how good the two wearables are.

We got an Honor Watch GS 3 in classic gold color that has a gold colored body and brown leather strap while Earbuds 3 Pro is in white.

Honor Watch GS 3

The watch was originally unveiled in China back in January, and it took Honor a month to unveil it internationally. After three more months we can finally buy one for € 230 / £ 210. We love the curved 3D glass from all angles, and the build quality seems solid.

Unfortunately, it does not support wireless charging and you have to rely on a proprietary charger with two pogo pins included in the retail box.

At 44g, the watch feels much lighter than expected on the wrist. There are two buttons on the right side without rotation or other extra controls, which is not necessarily a bad thing as it simplifies use. The curved screen means that the finger also slides freely on the touch screen.

Clearly, the smartwatch draws a lot of its R&D from when Honor was part of Huawei’s subsidiary, so you’ll definitely find many similarities between the Watch GS 3 and the Huawei Watch series. And that’s actually a good thing, since Huawei has been producing some of the best wearables available over the last few years.

However, Watch GS 3 also has lots of Honors ideas and will be the first test for the now independent company’s ideas in the western markets.

Honor Earbuds 3 Pro

We have already reviewed Earbuds Choice X, but Earbuds 3 Pro aims much higher.

The design of the earphones is strongly inspired by Apple, but here we have shorter stems that support movements for easy control.

One feature that made us fascinate was the AI temperature monitoring. It is supposed to measure body temperature with an impressive margin of error of 0.3 ° C. But despite the fact that Earbuds 3 Pro is currently available for purchase in five European countries, the feature is still apparently unavailable on the old continent.

We hope Honor manages to enable it with a firmware update, but we will not include it in any purchase decisions.

There are four modes of noise reduction – Ultra, Cozy, General, and a fourth called “AI Cancellation”, which tries to adjust its strength depending on your surroundings. A dedicated Voice Pick Up (VPU) sensor enhances your voice during calls, reduces ambient noise, and also helps eliminate wind.

The case comes with a 410mAh battery and each knob packs a 42mAh device. The total weight is only 50 grams, with each knob contributing 5.1 g. They feel good in the ear, which is the key with knobs that have rubber tips. We are now testing how they sound and reporting back.
