Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 series begin global journey in India
Xiaomi held a big event in India today marking the international debut of the Redmi Note 12 series. In typical Redmi fashion, the Redmi Note 12 that will be sold in India differs slightly from its namesake that is available in China. Redmi Note 12 Pro and Redmi Note 12 Pro+ are identical.
The launch event was for “Redmi Note 12 Series 5G”, which suggests that Xiaomi may introduce an LTE-only member to the Redmi Note 12 family in the near future.
Redmi Note 12 comes with a 6.67″ AMOLED with 120Hz refresh rate and a Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset. It has three cameras on the back – a 48MP main shooter with PDAF, an 8MP ultrawide and a 2MP depth sensor.
The phone comes in green or black and costs INR15,499 ($187/€175) for the 4/128GB variant or INR17,499 ($210/€200) for the 6/128GB. Sales will begin on January 11, with the phone available on Mi.com, Amazon and retail stores.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro has the same overall design, but it’s actually a bit smaller than its vanilla sibling. It has a Dimensity 1080 chipset and a 50MP camera, while the 5,000mAh battery supports 67W charging.
Redmi Note 12 Pro comes in the colors black, blue and pink. Prices are INR24,999 ($300/€285) for the base 6/128GB version, INR26,999 ($325/€307) for the 8/128GB mid-tier model and INR27,999 ($340/€320) for the top 8/ 256GB spec. Xiaomi is offering discounts of up to INR3,000 ($37/€35) to early buyers, you can get one from January 11 at Mi stores, Flipkart and partner retailers.
Redmi Note 12 Pro+ is the leader of the series. It has the same footprint as its non-Plus sibling and shares its OLED panel and 5,000mAh battery – but it’s the first device in India to feature Samsung’s ISOCELL HPX sensor for the 200MP camera. Charging is also lightning fast at 120W, and the adapter is included in the box.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ starts from INR25,999 ($315/€295) for the base 8/256GB variant, while the 12/256GB is INR28,999 ($350/€330) with applicable discounts. Color choices are black, white and blue. Like its Pro sibling, this phone will be available on January 11 at Mi.com, Flipkart and select third-party retailers.

Unfortunately, the Redmi Note 12 Discovery with 210W charging and a smaller 4,300 mAh battery will not make it outside of China, and we have yet to see if the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed will escape the domestic scene and under what name.
