Apple today dropped new hardware with the M2 Pro and M2 Max 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pro models, as well as the M2/M2 Pro Mac Mini. While previous Mac releases only merited a press release, Apple actually released a 19-minute announcement video this time that gives us a detailed look at the latest Mac members.

The video starts with the introduction of the new Mac Mini, which retains the same design as its predecessor, but gets the new M2 and M2 Pro chipset options, as well as more memory and storage options. The Baseline M2 Mac mini comes with the M2 chip (8-core CPU, 10-core GPU), 8GB of total memory with 100GB/s memory bandwidth, and a 256GB SSD. This system only supports two displays, while the M2 Pro chip version can handle up to three displays. The M2 Pro Mac mini can be configured with up to a 10-core CPU and 16-core GPU with up to 24GB of LPDDR5 unified memory and 8TB of storage space.

The new MacBook Pro 14” and 16” also retain the design of their predecessors, but with the new M2 Pro and M2 Max chipsets. Both the M2 Pro and M2 Ultra chips can be configured up to 12-core CPUs and 38-core GPUs. The unified memory starts at 16GB on the Pro and 32GB on the M2 Max and can be configured up to 96GB. Storage starts at 512GB and can be configured up to 8TB. The new MacBook Pros also have Wi-Fi 6E connectivity and more advanced HDMI 2.1 connectors and up to 22 hours of battery life.
