Samsung’s Unpacked event today had more than just the Galaxy S23 lineup. The company introduced four new laptops in the Galaxy Book3 Pro series, led by a new flagship – the Galaxy Book3 Ultra.

Let’s start with the latter, which is the first ultra-powerful Samsung laptop since the Odyssey. That Galaxy Book3 Ultra comes in a single 16-inch size, but it’s nicely slim at 16.5mm and 1.79kg.

The Galaxy Book3 Ultra packs the most powerful configuration among the Book3 series with a choice of Intel’s latest Core i7-13700H or Core i9-13900H 45W processors, up to 32GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD. There are also discrete graphics – either RTX 4050 or RTX 4070.

The front screen is a state-of-the-art 16-inch 16:10-aspect Dynamic AMOLED 2x with a resolution of 2880x1800px. The panel can adaptively refresh from 48Hz to 120Hz and can reach up to 500 nits for HDR content (Vesa DisplayHDR 500 certified) or up to 400 nits otherwise. The Galaxy Book3 Ultra comes with a 76Wh pack and comes with a 100W USB-C charger.

That Galaxy Book3 Pro comes in two sizes – 14-inch and 16-inch, while Galaxy Book3 Pro 360 comes only with a 16-inch screen. They share a lot of underlying technology with the Ultra. For starters, screen specs across all four models are the same – you get a variably refreshing AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2880x1800px.

So are the ports – there’s a 3.5mm jack, microSD slot, a USB-A, 2 USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports and a full-size HDMI (spec 1.4 on the Pros and 2.0 on the Ultra).

All four laptops also share their multimedia credentials – you get two 5W woofers and two 2W tweeters – with AKG and Dolby Atmos certification – as well as dual studio-quality microphones. The webcam is also the same 1080p unit across all models.

The Galaxy Book3 Pro models come with a new 65W USB-C power adapter that can double as your Galaxy phone or tablet charger.

The Galaxy Book3 Pro 14-inch model has a 63Wh battery, while the 16-inch Galaxy Book3 Pro and Book3 Pro 360 have the same 76Wh as the Galaxy Book3 Ultra.

Samsung has made its Book3 series deeply integrated with its Galaxy smartphones and tablets. The so-called Galaxy Connected Experience brings a number of important functions. Multicontrol allows you to directly control your smartphone through the laptop, drag and drop files, as well as copy and paste both text and images.

The second screen lets you use your tablet as an extension or mirror for your laptop’s screen. Phone Link lets you activate the phone’s hotspot functionality directly from the laptops. There’s Expert RAW autoshare, which can automatically transfer RAW files from your Galaxy phone to your Galaxy Book3 laptop while you’re shooting.

Finally, Samsung has added its Smart Switch and Samsung Pass to the Galaxy Book3 series.
