Samsung is rolling out the first update for the Galaxy S23 series
Samsung began open sales of the Galaxy S23 series last week, and if you got one, you should know that the first update for the trio is already out. It’s a small update that mostly catches the phone for security patches that arrived between the phone’s manufacture and release.
The Galaxy S23, S23+ and S23 Ultra came with the January security patch out of the box, this update brings it up to February 1, 2023. The changes include 48 security improvements common to Android 13 phones and 7 to Samsung’s One UI.
The Samsung Galaxy receives its first software update
This update has been seen on unlocked phones across Europe, but should be available in the other launch markets for the S23 series in the coming days. On the S23 it weighs a little over 500MB, on the Ultra model it is a little more, but still under 600MB.
Last year, Samsung changed the update schedule for its premium models, promising 4 OS updates and 5 years of security fixes. The S23 series is part of that, of course, so expect to see Android 14, 15, 16 and 17 and finish the regularly scheduled security patches in 2028.
