Xiaomi 13 Ultra case leaks showing humongous camera island

At the end of this week, Xiaomi will announce the international availability of the 13 and 13 Pro, which it originally revealed in China in December. And yet the family obviously lacks an Ultra. The company’s CEO may have said there won’t be a 13S Ultra this year, but he didn’t mention anything about the 13 Ultra, which has seen a steadily increasing number of leaks in recent weeks.

The Xiaomi 12S Ultra was unveiled in July 2022, so the successor still has plenty of time to arrive. Today, a couple of images showing a case allegedly intended for the upcoming Xiaomi 13 Ultra have been released, and they paint the picture of an absolutely huge circular camera island.

Of course, we’re already used to that, since the 12S Ultras weren’t small by any means either. Today’s case leak is also in line with an alleged sketch of the device as well as an alleged live hands-on image, both of which leaked in China last week. You can see the former below, and the latter under the next section.

The arrangement of the sensors seems to be the same, but it is also not 100%. The oval cutout on top of the island may well serve a purpose, but it’s not obvious what it would be from the other leaked images.

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is rumored to launch in March or April, at least in China. It should have a huge focus on photography, not surprising given the Ultra lineage. According to a previous leak, the 13 Ultra will retain its predecessor’s 1-inch main sensor, but will add gimbal stabilization. All four cameras on the back will have autofocus, and there will also be a dToF (direct Time-of-Flight) sensor. Stay tuned and we’ll let you know when we find out more.
