Apple reportedly will source 80 million OLED panels from Samsung Display for iPhone 14

A report from Korean sources quoted industry insiders familiar with Apple and Samsung Display’s plans. According to ETNews, “Samsung Display will supply 80 million panels for all iPhone 14 Series models.” The report continues that mass production and delivery of the panels is expected to begin sometime in the 3rd quarter of the year.

Apple iPhone 13 lineup

Four iPhone 14 models are expected, two high-end Pro models and two ‘regular’ models. There are two 6.1-inch versions and two 6.7-inch. Samsung Display will supply OLED panels for all these models. Meanwhile, it is reported that 38.17 million of these panels will be allocated to both the entry-level iPhone 14 and the highest end iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The iPhone 14 series will use LTPS-TFT-based OLED panels and LTPO-TFT-based OLEDs. It is not clear which is intended for which models. In another recent report, Apple also expected to use BOE OLED panels for the upcoming lineup. Apple is reportedly evaluating BOE’s OLED panels for the iPhone 14 series this week.
