Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 due for a new hinge mechanism says tipster
The latest rumor about the Galaxy Z Fold5 comes from reputable leakster The ice universe and it addresses a key new addition to the upcoming foldable — its reworked hinge mechanism. The new information confirms that Samsung will use a new waterdrop-style hinge for the Fold5, which isn’t the first time we’ve heard of this development. We saw a similar report from South Korean publication Naver News last month.
The Samsung Display “drop” folding hinge mechanism will allow the folding panel of the Fold5 to form a teardrop shape inside the hinge body, which will prevent folding between the two sides of the panel.

Motorola and Oppo have used similar methods on their foldables to hide creases. Ice Universe also shares that the Fold5 will be just 13.xmm thick in its folded state, which is a big upgrade compared to the Z Fold4’s 15.8mm
