Honor Magic5 Pro in for review

0 7

After making its debut at Mobile World Congress earlier this week, the Honor Magic5 Pro makes its way into our office and joins our review queue.

So let’s get an unboxing done, then we’ll talk a little about this powerful smartphone. Honor packs the Magic5 Pro with a case, a 66W charger and a cable. Our unit is Meadow Green.

The Honor Magic5 Pro is a striking device. The corners of its front glass are contoured and taper at the sides. It creates a smooth and curved look and feel to the phone.

On the back, the panel gently rises up to meet the camera island, creating a subtle bulge that catches the eye. The back is also textured, which will please some and annoy others.

Up front, the Magic5 Pro sports a beautiful 6.81-inch 1312x2848px AMOLED panel with 120Hz variable refresh rate, 1800 nits maximum brightness, and a dual hole that accommodates a 12MP ultra-wide selfie camera and a ToF depth 3D reading sensor for both , and biometric unlocking.

Honor is serious about the Magic5 Pro’s camera performance. It comes with a 50MP 23mm main camera with a custom 1/1.12-inch sensor. It has large 1.4µm pre-binned pixels. These increase to 2.8 µm after binning at 12 MP, which is not that much smaller than the 3.2 µm native pixels of a 1 inch-type sensors.

There are two further 50MP cameras – a 13mm ultra-wide unit with autofocus and 2.5cm macro capabilities, and a 90mm periscope telephoto camera that can go all the way up to 100x digital.

The Magic5 Pro is capable of serious phone photography. It even topped DxOMark’s smartphone rankings.
