Samsung refutes rumors about in-house development of CPU cores
Yesterday, a report from South Korea claimed that Samsung is restarting its own advanced CPU core development unit and will have custom processor cores by 2027. But now the company’s representatives contacted us to refute this report.
Here is the full quote:
A recent media report that Samsung has established an internal team dedicated to CPU core development is not true. Contrary to the news, we have long had multiple internal teams responsible for CPU development and optimization, while constantly recruiting global talent from relevant fields.
The statement also indicated that Samsung will continue to work with Arm to use their stock CPU cores in future smartphones, as the British semiconductor company recently did not allow manufacturers to make changes to core designs.
The restriction will apply to all chips used by Samsung for its Galaxy smartphones – in-house Exynos, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon or Dimensity and Helio from Mediatek.
