Redmi A2 and Redmi A2+ quietly debut at the low-end
Xiaomi’s Redmi unveiled a slew of new devices yesterday — the Redmi Note 12, Redmi Note 12 5G, Redmi Note 12 Pro and Redmi Note 12 Pro+, that is. And yet the sub-brand has also recently made two more handsets official, albeit in this case very quietly, simply by adding them to the Mi global site.
We are talking about Redmi A2 and Redmi A2+ and these are much, much lower than the others. Redmi A2 has a 6.52-inch 720×1600 touchscreen, it is powered by MediaTek Helio G36 SoC paired with either 2 or 3GB of RAM, it has 32GB of expandable storage, an 8MP rear camera with a QVGA auxiliary lens next to it, a 5 MP selfie snapper and a 5,000 mAh battery with 10W charging support. A 10W charger comes in the box, and charging is via microUSB, believe it or not.

The “barely trustworthy” theme continues with the software. This phone runs Android 12 (Go Edition). So it probably won’t surprise you to find out that there’s no 5G support built-in. However, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Redmi A2+ appears to be more or less the same device, but with just one additional feature: a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Both of these will obviously be sold cheap, regardless of where they end up being offered. You can get both in light blue, light green and black.
