Samsung announces virtual MWC event, teasing new devices
Samsung canceled personal participation in MWC 2021 and only committed to an online presence. Today, the company made it official and set the time and date for the Samsung Galaxy MWC Virtual Event, which will be held on June 28 at. 17:15 UTC. It will be livestreamed on YouTube so everyone can participate.
The press release announcing the event is pretty concise – the company will talk about the “ever-growing Galaxy device ecosystem” and present a “vision for the future of smartwatches”. Which Galaxy devices?
Well, the silhouettes offer some clues. Is it Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip 3? Could be, even if the one on the left looks more like a laptop. The red unit in the middle is the S21 Ultra and is it a stylus on the right? This may be a new tablet, maybe the Galaxy Tab S8 family that leaked last month (it will not be a Galaxy Note). The watch (Galaxy Watch4 or Watch Active4) should also be quite interesting with a 5 nm chipset and Google Wear OS shone with One UI.
However, there is no guarantee that we will see new product launches next week. Announcements from Galaxy products are typically labeled “Unpacked,” so this may be more of a bird’s eye view of Samsung’s product strategy and an introduction to new technologies that will eventually find their way into the said gadgets. Like the aforementioned Wear OS customization.
It’s more likely that this is just built up for the upcoming Unpacked event. According to rumors, the folding phones and the new smart watches will be launched in August, so there we have to have patience.
