Gurman: Apple MacBook Pros with M2 Pro and Max chips coming this fall

According to the latest intelligence from Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, Apple is already working on new 14 “and 16” MacBook Pros with M2 Pro and M2 Max processors. According to his sources, the updated 14-inch and 16-inch Pros could be launched as early as this fall.

The new M2 Pro and M2 Max processors will inherit the improved performance of the basic M2 and are likely to add more cores. According to Gurman, the M2 Pro and M2 Max will focus on the graphics side. The M2 in the 13-inch MacBook Pro and the new MacBook Air showed about 11% better single-core performance, close to 20% better multi-core results and as much as 35% better graphics results, especially if you go for the 10-core GPU version.

Gurman does not expect many changes to the rest of the MacBook Pro hardware. The current 14-inch and 16-inch Pros are not even a year old and brought major upgrades, including a new design, mini-LED screens and MagSafe charging.

Apple could aim for an autumn unveiling of the new MacBook Pro 14 and 16, but it may be forced to postpone the launch until the spring of 2023 due to chip shortages.
