Qualcomm introduced its new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 flagship chipset, and manufacturers are now rushing to refresh their performance-oriented devices. Xiaomi has already unveiled the 12S series and it is also about to give us a Redmi phone with the new top chip.
Brand boss Lu Weibing, also known as William Lu, revealed on Weibo that a new Redmi K50 flagship is on the way, and it will come “soon” with the Qualcomm platform.
Lu reposted an image Xiaomi shared before, confirming 33% better energy efficiency of the Plus’s CPU and 30% of the GPU. We expected the phone to be called the Redmi K50 Ultra, but since the series is still tied to the domestic market, we’ve heard practically nothing about a follow-up.
Some reports suggest that the name will be Redmi K50S, related to the Xiaomi 12S series. But in the past, the S has denoted a special member of the Redmi series rather than an update.
