It is rumored that the Korean company Samsung will exclusively use the Snapdragon chipset in the Samsung Galaxy S23 series of phones. Exynos chips have underperformed over the past few years, and customers have been clamoring for Samsung to get full Snapdragon processors for its high-end phones.
Now, Qualcomm has revealed when it plans to unveil its next flagship processor. It revealed that it will hold its next annual event, Snapdragon Summit 2022, from November 15 to November 17. This is when the company will unveil the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor.
As usual, the corporate event will be held in Hawaii. The company’s annual event usually takes place in December, but this year, Qualcomm held it a month earlier.
This may be earlier than usual due to the phone manufacturers. Usually, phone sales in China jump during the Chinese New Year. So, if the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is launched in November, phones using this chipset may go on sale at the end of December 2022, before the Chinese New Year in January 2023.
In addition, it is said that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor will use 5nm manufacturing precision from TSMC. Also, it is rumored to have one Cortex-X3 CPU core, two Cortex-A720 CPU cores, two Cortex-A710 CPU cores, and three Cortex-A510 CPU cores.
It is also said to have an Adreno 740 GPU, but Qualcomm could end up calling it Adreno Gen 2. And that processor should make Samsung’s next very powerful flagship phone.
What do you think of the idea of the Samsung Galaxy S23 series phones coming with Snapdragon processors instead of the company’s own processors?
