Apple is preparing to launch its new devices that contain the Apple A16 processor, as a new report revealed that the processor will be significantly faster in performance compared to the previous generation.

Apple A16 processor details

The new report indicates that the Apple A16 processor will be 15% faster, the GPU will be 25-30% faster, and support for new LPDDR5 RAM.

Previous leaks mentioned that the Pro models will have the new Apple A16 processor, better cameras, a different screen and a new design, while other phones will work with the A15 processor and 12-megapixel cameras.

The iPhone 14 and 14 Max is expected to get a five-core GPU version, in addition to 6GB of RAM.

The A16 processor is expected to have 18-20 billion transistors compared to 15 billion in the previous generation, and will use Cortex-A715 and X3 cores.

Switching to faster RAM is expected to boost performance as well, as reports indicate that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will use the new LPDDR5 type, which offers 50% more bandwidth than LPDDR4X and is more energy efficient.

Apple will also have to boost ISPs and machine learning systems to handle the higher resolutions. The 14 Pro series is rumored to jump to a 48MP camera and record 8K video. This may also raise the cinematic mode resolution limit from 1080p to 4K.
