Samsung has trademarked the term “Hexa²pixel” for a hexa pixel sensor (Hexa in Latin for 6), which is described in the filing as “image sensors for imaging devices”.

What are the capabilities of the Hexa²pixel sensor?
The leak indicates that this new Hexa²pixel sensor will stack 36 in 1 pixels (a group of 6 x 6 pixels combined into one), which is significantly higher than the current arrangements of Tetracell (2×2) and Nonapixel (3×3) (where the word Tetra is In Latin it means 4 and Nona means 9, and if the goal is to output 12 megapixels (as with the other two) we can calculate the resolution for the new sensor.
