Samsung introduces a new privacy feature that will end the problem of data leakage during phone maintenance

Many users are usually hesitant to hand over their mobile phone filled with pictures, text and other personal information to the repair technician to inspect and fix some issues for fear of their data being leaked during the repair process which is a problem that has already happened to some people.

Now, a new report says that the company has found a solution to this problem with a new privacy feature called Repair Mode. This feature will give technicians limited access to your phone’s data, so they don’t see your photos and videos, for example.

New privacy feature coming to Samsung phones

This feature will first arrive for Samsung Galaxy S21 phones in South Korea, and the company plans to roll it out to other phones in the future.

This feature will work through the Battery and Device Care section of the built-in Settings app. From there you can customize the mode that enhances phone privacy during maintenance, after which your accounts, photos and messages will be hidden.

According to sourceOnly installed default applications can be accessed by a service technician. Also, you can decide when to turn off Maintenance Mode.

So far, Samsung has not confirmed whether Maintenance Mode will reach other regions or exactly which phones will support this feature. We will certainly update you on our digital TV website as soon as it becomes available regarding this feature.
