It is probably now clear that only the Pro models from the iPhone 13 series have 120Hz LTPO OLED panels with the vanilla 13 models to get 60Hz screens. This is because only Samsung can manufacture LTPO monitors and it does not have the capacity to produce enough devices.
However, LG hopes to strengthen its game and start producing the required panels by next year. According to the Korean media outlet Elec, the company was able to meet the requirements for the iPhone 14 launch. LG is already in dialogue with Avaco, which supplies equipment for LTPO panel manufacturing, and is awaiting Apple’s approval of the production line.
And only then can Avaco start sending equipment to LG’s production facilities. If all goes according to plan, LG should be able to cover the non-Pro iPhone 14 models and even go into Samsung’s iPhone Pro range. This should allow Apple to diversify its panel supply even further and reduce its reliance on Samsung.
