Rumor: Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 will have a completely invisible under display camera, rear display

Xiaomi has been working on under-screen cameras (or as some call them, under-panel cameras, UPC) for years, but has yet to launch a phone with one. The Mi 10 Ultra was supposed to be the first, but it did not work out. That did not happen for the Mi 11 Ultra either. But now the Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 is getting ready for launch, and this may be it – Xiaomi has finally figured out how to really hide the camera under screen, says Isunivers.

The camera will be completely invisible to the naked eye when not in operation. However, a previous rumor claimed that the screen will be limited to 1080p + resolution. This panel is allegedly supplied by Huaxing Optoelectronics.

While Xiaomi has done so patented a design with a square display, the Mi Mix 4 uses a more standard dual-curve display to save on costs. It’s already rumored to be more expensive than the Mi 11 Ultra – that means it’s going to be more than CNY 6,000 ($ 930 / € 790), which is Ultra’s starting price (it was much, much higher than that in Europe, € 1,200 ).

HoiINDI has created renderings on the back of the device that show a secondary screen next to the camera but larger than the one seen on the Mi 11 Ultra.

Xiaomi may unveil the Mi Mix 4 along with the MIUI 13 in August. The phone is expected to support UWB, has a Snapdragon 888 chipset and a 4,500 mAh battery with 120 W wireless and 80 W wireless charging.
