The naming schemes used by different phone manufacturers have become more and more complicated recently with multiple names for the same phone in different markets where the same name is used for different phones in different markets and even the same phone is sold under two or two more names in the same market (hey, Xiaomi).
However, Samsung wants to take the (crazy) cake with the Galaxy M21 2021 Edition. We’ve already seen this appear in the Google Play Console, which only revealed its model number. At the time, we had no specifications that we could compare to the Galaxy M21 launched last year.
Today a new leak brings us the full specification list, and get ready for this – Galaxy M21 2021 Edition is 100% identical to Galaxy M21. We really hope that the source of this leak is wrong, because otherwise – what is the point? Oh, wait, there’s a difference, not that it actually matters.
Galaxy M21 was launched with Android 10. Galaxy M21 2021 Edition will start running Android 11. But – funny fact – Galaxy M21 has already received the update for Android 11. So for all it is the same, they just have two different names . For some reason.
We assume that Samsung wanted the M21 to feel fresh again, and the usual way to do that is to come up with a minor spec update and label it something like the M21s or even the M22 or maybe the M21 2021 Edition (though how many 21s in a name are too many?). This time there is none of it. You get the same phone with a new name. Yay for progress.
We can not wait for the launch press release if there will be one at all. Like the M21 before it, the M21 2021 Edition is expected to debut in India. The release date is still elusive, but honestly, who cares? If you want the same phone, just buy an M21.
