Google Messages prepares RCS integration with Samsung Continuity
Google is preparing to integrate Google Messages RCS to work with Samsung’s Continuity feature. This feature allows Samsung Tablet and Smartwatch users to receive calls and messages from a Samsung smartphone. The new integration would allow the continuity feature to access incoming RCS messages and let users respond while using Google Messages.

XDA developers discovered this through the text strings contained in the Android Messages app code. The text refers to a new permission in the app.
Permission to send SMS / MMS / RCS messages using the Android Messages API
With this permission, the app is allowed to send SMS / MMS / RCS using Android messages. It has access to send messages with any additional approvals.
It was initially reported that Google Messages opened an API for third-party apps for handling RCS messages, but it was later confirmed that the special version of Google Messages containing this text is only available in Google Messages build for Samsung smartphones .
The license is built specifically because Samsung (outside the US) uses Google Messages as the standard out-of-the-box messaging app. Before that, Samsung used its own One UI app for SMS, and it actually supported RCS messaging as well.
