Officially called HyperCharge, the 200W wired charger was discontinued earlier this year in May on a customized version of the Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro. It was able to recharge the device’s custom 4,000 mAh battery from 0 to 100% capacity in just 15 minutes. It was later revealed that 800 charging cycles using this technology would degrade the battery’s recharging health by 20%.
The report specifies that the 200W technology could debut on the highest level model of the Xiaomi Mi 11’s successor, called the “Xiaomi Mi 12 Ultra.
When Xiaomi first demoed this technology, it never specified whether this technology would ever make it a consumer device, it was more of a demonstration that got the company a lot of attention as more a proof of concept. It will be interesting to see charging speeds so fast on a commercially available smartphone. Devices currently available in the market can completely recharge a battery from 30 minutes to more than two hours.
