Samsung Galaxy A22 5G arrives in India with Dimensity 700 chipset, 2 years of OS updates
Three weeks after the 4G version of the Galaxy A22 arrived in India, the 5G model follows. It is available in two versions, one with 6 GB RAM and one with 8 GB, both have 128 GB of storage space and a microSD slot. The former model sells for 20,000 INR, the latter for 22,000 INR. By comparison, the 6/128GB 4G model is currently 18,500 INR on Amazon.
Samsung Galaxy A22 5G will be available online through Samsung.com and leading online stores as well as brick and mortar retailers. Here is the 6 GB model on Samsung.com, e.g. Flipkart and Amazon are not yet updating their listings at the time of this writing.
By the way, you can not make a direct price comparison between the Galaxy A22 and A22 5G – despite the fact that you share a name, the two phones are quite different. ONE quick comparison shows a 6.6 ”LCD on the 5G model vs. 6.4 ”Super AMOLED on the 4G, both 90 Hz panels, but it’s 720p for 5G and 1080p for the 4G phone and a Dimensity 700 5G chipset vs. Helio G80. While both have 48 MP main cameras, the 5G model has a 5 MP ultra-wide camera instead of 8 MP, selfcams are also different. There are also a few other changes.
We have a Galaxy A22 5G device in the office and we will soon publish a full review, so stay tuned for our detailed report on how the phone works. We note here that Samsung promises 2 years of OS updates for the 5G model.
PS. The Galaxy A22 5G became available in Europe earlier this month at a price of € 230. Also note that the A22 5G may also start as the Galaxy F42 5G in some regions.
