Huawei launched the new operating system HarmonyOS 2 on June 2, 2021. After the announcement, the company began testing the new system on Huawei devices in China and also announced a schedule for its implementation on more than 100 Huawei devices.

Harmony OS 2 is an open source operating system designed for smartphones, Internet of Things (IOT) as well as smart TVs, providing a simple one-step solution to control all your connected devices.

The system features an easy-to-use user interface where you can install UI changes including app shortcuts, new control panel, notification center, gestures, shortcuts, better app management, and many other important features.

Huawei’s plan to launch HarmonyOS 2 globally

Currently, Huawei has released the Harmony OS 2 update for a number of Huawei and Honor devices. These flagship models include Huawei Mate 40, P40, Mate 30, MatePad Pro, and others.

The company had released the beta testing of the system for the flagship phones Huawei P30, Mate 20, P20, and Mate 10. Apart from the Mate 10 and P20, other devices have started receiving the stable Harmony OS 2 update in China.

Huawei P50

There are still many questions about the launch date of Harmony OS for Huawei phones globally. However, Huawei is expected to start rolling out Harmony OS to global Huawei devices in December 2021. However, the launch schedule may be clearer with the launch of the Huawei P50 series on July 29 but that is confirmed as of now.

Huawei has completed rolling out the stable version of the update HarmonyOS 2 For Huawei P40, Mate 40, Mate 30 and MatePad Pro in China. On the other hand, the company is working quickly to finish testing for other devices. Thus, these mentioned devices may be the first to get the beta test of the new system globally.
