Weekly poll results: iPhone 13 Pro Max leads the new Apple charge
Last week’s poll shows that the split in the iPhone 13 family is bigger than ever – the two Pro models stand head and shoulders above their vanilla siblings in terms of fan interest.
In particular, the iPhone 13 Pro Max gathered the majority of the positive votes and received almost 70% more votes for than the smaller iPhone 13 Pro. And the two are miles ahead of the 13 and 13 mini.

Admittedly, many are not interested in getting a new iPhone, nor is Apple interested in capturing the entire market. But it can not be overlooked that the most expensive model is the most desirable by a large margin.
It’s not hard to see what happened. The Pro models are the first iPhones with an LTPO panel, which means 120 Hz refresh rate, they also have a more powerful version of the Apple A15 chipset (with 5 GPU cores instead of 4).
The camera setup is also better. It is clear that it has a tele-lens (a new one with 3x magnification). The main camera has larger pixels (1.9 modm vs. 1.7 .m) and a lighter aperture (f / 1.5 vs. F / 1.6). The ultra wide camera on the pros now has autofocus, so it can also take macro photos.
This year, however, the Pro Max does not have a camera advantage over the smaller Pro. 12 Pro Max had a larger sensor (1.7 pixelsm pixels vs. 1.4 µm) with sensor-shift OIS, also the telecamera offered a larger magnification (2.5 x vs. 2x). This year, Pro and Pro Max differ most in size and related features (ie battery capacity).
Anyway, fans of small phones will be put off by seeing the iPhone 13 mini placed so low. It’s not far behind the vanilla iPhone 13, but also not far above the iPhone 12 (which now costs the same at $ 700). There have been many predictions from analysts that this will be the last mini model and that Apple next year will offer a Max size for vanilla iPhone 14 as a fourth model instead.
What a difference a year makes – last year’s poll on the iPhone 12 generation put the 12 mini over the 12 Pro Max in terms of desirability. However, the 12 mini did not sell very well and the new mini would not do much better by its appearance.
As we move on to storage, it seems that the transition to 128 GB base storage for vanilla iPhones came at just the right time. 128 GB is still the most popular capacity, but we are at a turning point as the 256 GB setting is close. Today, of course, there is a $ 100 surcharge to get the extra storage.
So this is a “good news, bad news” situation – vanilla iPhone 13 duo buyers do not have to pay extra for 128 GB, but Pro owners get no free upgrades. And it will be interesting to see if next year’s benefits get 256 GB as standard, or if Apple will continue to charge extra.
Pre-orders for the iPhone 13 models ended this week and they can now be purchased, at least in some countries. Availability will be expanded in the coming weeks. We can not wait to see the first sales report with an overview of the popularity of each model.
