We’re still about a year away from the iPhone 14 series, but rumors of the next-generation iPhones have already begun to make rounds on the Internet, with the latest claiming that Apple will double the maximum storage on next year’s iPhones.

Apple doubled the maximum storage space on the iPhone 13 this year, with the Pro and Pro Max models in 1 TB trim. And if the source is accurate, we see the iPhone 14 series come with 2 TB QLC storage.

The source does not explicitly mention any models, but if Apple really plans to offer 2 TB of storage, we will probably see it on the Pro and Pro Max variants, with the capacity in the rest expected to increase from 512 GB to 1 TB.

We do not know why Apple decided to further increase the maximum storage on next year’s iPhones, but we speculate that new camera features are a cause of the bump in storage capacity. After all, you need at least 256GB of storage on this year’s Pro and Pro Max models to record ProRes videos in 4K resolution at 30 FPS. The 128 GB version is limited to 1080p 30 FPS ProRes videos.

That said, we suggest you take this information with a pinch of salt as it does not come from Apple. In addition, we are several months away from the launch of the iPhone 14 series, and plans can always change before the final product arrives.
