Apple AirPods 3 rumored to debut alongside new MacBook Pros at October 18 Unleashed event

Yesterday, Apple confirmed a new “Unleashed” launch event scheduled for October 18. The stars of the show will almost certainly be Apple’s next generation ARM-based M-series chipset called the M1X and brand new 14 ”and 16” MacBook Pro laptops. Now Weibo is delicious @PandaIsBald also throws the long-rumored AirPods 3 into the mix.

Apple’s regular non-Pro AirPods 2 has been out since March 2019 and needs to be clearly updated. The third generation was expected to fall at several previous Apple events, but was nowhere to be seen. Based on previous leaks and rumors, the AirPods 3 will carry an AirPods Pro-inspired design with shorter stems and a redesigned charging case, however with the same in-ear design without silicone earplugs. AirPods 3 is likely to skip active noise reduction, which remains exclusive to the Pro model.
