Apple Watch Series 7 teardown reveals not much has changed compared to Series 6

Over a month after the release and after several delays in shipping, the Apple Watch Series 7 is finally ready for a demolition thanks to iFixit. The leaked detailed datasheet revealed little or no difference between the new model and its predecessor, and the demolition shows that this is in fact the case.

The only major difference here is the smaller edges and the removed ribbon cable under the screen. Apple also combined the touch and display signals into a single cable, and that’s how it managed to shrink the frames and could be the reason for the delays for the Watch Series 7.

There is no diagnostic port anymore, as Apple has reportedly moved to a wireless solution. Interestingly, the demolition revealed that the Series 6 watch battery fits into the Series 7 case and actually works on the new model. The Apple Watch Series 7 achieved a 6 out of 10 repair score that matches last year’s model.
