The Singles Day shopping holiday, which took place on November 11 and named after the lucky date of 11.11, was a huge success, revealed the largest Chinese online retailer JD.com. Xiaomi sold the most phones, followed by Apple in second place and Honor in third place.

Overall, the top 3 best-selling vanilla were the Redmi K40, iPhone 13 and the ultra-affordable Redmi 9A.

Xiaomi’s performance and portfolio diversity led to nine Top 20 units – this includes both Redmi and Mi units from all price ranges. Fans really love their Redmi Note versions as the series was represented by its last three generations.

It’s interesting to see that the spin-offs managed to outcompete their (former) parent companies – Redmi sold better than Mi, Realme pushed more than Oppo, iQOO did better than vivo, even the now independent Honor dominated Huawei.

JD.com also offered a detailed breakdown into price segments, as well as so-called “gaming smartphones”. The most expensive field at over 10,000 CNY was won by the foldable Mate X2, followed by the Mate 40 RS and Galaxy Z Flip3. The Asus ROG Phone 5 was ahead of both the Xiaomi Black Shark 4 and the Black Shark 4S.

The bottom tier of CNY5,000 and CNY10,000 was occupied by the expensive iPhones, while the Xiaomi Mi 11 won among flagships that cost no more than CNY5000.
