Tecno Camon 18 Premier review

Tecno has launched another Premier phone with a strong focus on the camera department. The new Tecno Camon 18 Premier offers a significant photography upgrade over the previous Camon 16 Premier and Camon 17 Pro with premium features such as gimbal stabilization and long-lasting zoom thanks to a periscope lens.

Tecno mainly targets developing countries, which is why they have a different approach to their smartphones than the mainstream manufacturers. The Camon series brings large screens and batteries with good camera experience and satisfactory performance for a cheap money. The price is kept even lower thanks to pre-installed partner apps and baked ads in the interface. For some, this is a deal-breaker, but for others – a welcome deal they will gladly make for the fantastic package they receive.

The Camon 18 Premier actually has a few flagship-worthy features such as a large 120Hz AMOLED screen, 256GB of basic storage space, a large battery with fast 33W charging, but most importantly – an impressive camera on the back. The primary shooter is a typical 64 MP snapper we’ve seen several times, but then you get an 8 MP telephoto camera with long range 5x optical zoom and 12 MP ultrawide snapper with gimbal stabilization.

Tecno Camon 18 Premier Review

The Tecno Camon 18 Premier is also a beautiful smartphone with a double-glazed design, eye-catching paint and a thin 8 mm profile. It includes fan-favorite features like a 3.5mm jack, a microSD expansion and even FM radio. There is also something that few phones can offer – a dedicated selfie LED flash!

Let’s take a closer look at the specification sheet.

Of course, the Tecno Camon 18 Premier is not ideal – the Helio G96 chip is fine, but playing with it may require a few graphical adjustments if you are looking for a smooth performance. And although the screen allows up to 120 fps, we doubt that any game would be able to achieve that.
