Samsung Galaxy S21 family gets new stable One UI 4 build to fix lag issues

Just yesterday, we let you know that Samsung acknowledged the delay issues plaguing some Galaxy S21 devices, especially in the US, after being updated to the stable iteration of One UI 4 based on Android 12, whose rollout started last week.

And today, the company has already fixed out. The problem was that once 120 Hz was selected in Settings, the refresh rate would return to 60 Hz when the user stopped touching the screen – this resulted in a lot of perceived delay.

The new design is the G99xUSQU4BUK9 (where the “x” is different depending on which S21 family member you have), and it’s going to replace the previous G99xUSQU4BUK7 on US carrier models. So far, the new build appeared at Verizon, but we expect it to reach the other airlines’ devices very soon.

Since the aforementioned update speed switch error mostly seems to affect US devices of Galaxy S21, S21 + and S21 Ultra, it remains to be seen whether this software patch will be released globally at a later date or not. People who have already installed it report a significant improvement in the overall responsiveness of the phone, although apparently there is still some residual rolling delay in third-party apps.
