Back in March, Xiaomi officially unveiled its first ever foldable smartphone, the Mi Mix Fold. Now that it is quite a few months old, you may be wondering if there is a sequel in the works, and as it turns out – it is. Not a big shock, that, for sure.

According to a few tips from some certifications it has already reviewed, it can tentatively be called Mix Fold 2 reach stores at some point in mid-2022, although we hope this one will not forever be limited to China as its predecessor.

It is now rumored that Mix Fold 2 uses a Samsung-made internal folding screen with Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) on top – just like Galaxy Z Fold3 and Oppo Find N. UTG ensures flexibility and durability by injecting special materials into a glass plate that is only 30 micrometers thick during processing, much thinner than traditional smartphone display glass.

The thinness is what allows for its flexibility, and while it may not be as durable as the Gorilla glass that does not fold, it is still much more than other materials.

Xiaomi Mix Fold 2’s internal screen size should be 8.1 “, and this should also be a panel with high refresh rate (since Samsung is the supplier, we assume 120 Hz LTPO). In addition, Mix Fold 2’s hinge will reportedly be redesigned and upgraded compared to of the predecessor.
