A new report from MacRumors says this year iPhone 13 models will be slightly thicker than their predecessors and will also have relatively larger camera bumps.

The information is based on forms on iPhone 13‌ and appears to come from a trusted source. That is in line with what we have heard and seen so far, including an alleged one iPhone 13 Pro Max dummy.

The upcoming iPhone 13 and 13 Pro variants will apparently be 7.57 mm thick, an increase of 0.17 mm compared to 7.4 mm thick iPhone 12 models. This is unlikely to be felt.

The iPhone 13 Pro will be pretty close in camera specifications for the iPhone 13 Pro Max

The camera dents on the new phones are expected to be visibly thicker compared to the current models. The iPhone 13 Pro reportedly has a 3.65 mm thick camera island, and the iPhone 13 has a 2.51 mm bump. For iPhone 12 and 12 Pro, these figures are between 1.5 mm and 1.7 mm.
The depth of the camera bump is apparently increased so that the lenses do not protrude as much from the camera modules and instead sit in line with them. This is similar to what Apple has done with the new iPad Pro.
The iPhone 13 Pro is also expected to have a significantly larger camera bump. The current models have a 28mm x 30mm bump and the size reportedly increases slightly to 29mm by 29mm on the iPhone 13. It also moves a millimeter closer to the top.

That iPhone 12 Pro Max has a bigger camera bump than iPhone 12 Pro, but this year’s Pro models are both expected to have a 36mm x 37mm bump. This means that the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max share most of the camera’s specifications, which is not the case at the moment.

According to rumors, both upcoming Pro models have sensor-shift stabilization, which is exclusive to the iPhone 12 Pro Max at the moment. Reports say the company will include the technology for both the Wide and Ultra-Wide lenses. It is also rumored that the iPhone 13 Pro will inherit the iPhone 12 Pro Max‌s upgraded tele-module.
Increasing the dimensions of the camera bump can also lead to a relocation of other elements such as the volume key and the side and mute button. To be more specific, they can be placed a little lower.

iPhone 13 rumors specs

According to previous reports, the new models will have smaller notches than the current variants. Despite these changes, the overall look will not be that much different from the iPhone 12, if leaks are any indication.
Other rumors of upgrades include 120Hz screens for the Pro models A15 Bionic chipset and Touch ID on the screen. The iPhone 13 series will presumably be announced in September.
The devices are on our list of phones to keep an eye on in 2021.
