Xiaomi 12 Ultra will stick to 50MP main camera, mold confirms design once again
The Xiaomi 12 Ultra is still unannounced, and rumors and leaks continue to float online. The latest comes from tipster Digital Chat Station, which revealed that the company will stick to a 50 MP sensor for the main camera, as well as a high resolution ultrawide and a telephoto shooter with some optical zoom.
Meanwhile, an aluminum mold appeared online, based on the charts that accessory manufacturers receive from Xiaomi, confirming the camera design of a large circle on an even larger rectangle that occupies more than 1/3 of the back of the phone.
The Mi 11 Ultra had 50 MP main camera, 48 MP ultrawide and 48 MP 5x telephoto cameras, and it seems that its successor will not increase the resolution significantly. But that does not mean that it can not bring new and improved sensors, resulting in even better image quality.
In our long-term review of that phone, we once again established its image reproduction, so it’s no wonder that Xiaomi chooses to perfect what is already a great setup, instead of starting from scratch.
Earlier, rumors pointed to a Zeiss partnership, though there is no solid confirmation of that yet. What is far more secure is that the 12 Ultra will run on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and has a large AMOLED screen with 1440p resolution. There is still nothing to say about a possible arrival, but a launch in the first quarter is in the cards, including an MWC 2022 appearance.
